OUR PURPOSE & GOALS

Welcome to an exploration of coastal processes. Erosion affects coasts around the world, and climate change will accelerate sea level rise and erosion of beaches. To increase awareness of human impacts and inform coastal decision-making, we are modeling the natural and anthropogenic erosion of the southern California coast in collaboration with the Kavli Institute.

The first part of this site explains the processes of coastal erosion and deposition. The second provides students, scientists, and engineers with data sets and models.
